Our big red pumper started life at the Sandborn, Indiana Fire Department where it lived it’s youth. It’s young adult years were spent at Branchville Training Center in Indiana, protecting the state’s houseguests. It was brought to Michigan in 2006 and was used as part of a female fire twirling act (for real!) and now, in its vintage but yet still prime years, it serves up America’s favorite food - delighting both young and old alike.
We had no intention of ever selling hot dogs. Heck, we like frankfurters (hot dogs) as much as any New Yorker, but it was not until we saw the gleaming fire engine that our inner voice sung out, “Make a hot dog eatery and call it Red Hot Mamas Dogs!”.
So here we are. Our co-workers think we are nuts, our son thinks we should be committed, but we are having a great time - come join us. What’s not to like about fire engines and hotdogs? Kids have good instincts. Let’s follow their lead.
Share with us your home state’s favorite hot dog recipe - who knows, we may add it to our menu!
